Keep Conservatives in Mind During the Upcoming Canadian Election
There is more than one reason why Kurdish communities across Canada should keep in mind the importance of voting for the Conservative Party in the upcoming federal election on April 28, 2025.
As many of you have been following, the recent political developments in Canada have deeply affected everyday citizens. The political climate has been turned upside down, impacting all sectors of life. The cost of living has surged dramatically—so much so that average consumers can no longer afford basic necessities the way they used to. Canadians deserve a change in leadership, one that will offer a fresh approach and policies the public can trust. The Conservative Party has long stood as the true opposition throughout the Liberal government’s many years in power, and it is now best positioned to lead the country forward.
From a Kurdish point of view, many Conservative MPs already maintain strong, longstanding relationships with Kurdish communities coast to coast. For example, organizations like Mala Kurd and various Diaspora Centers have developed meaningful ties with a majority of Conservative MPs. The consistent presence of Conservative MPs at national Kurdish events—whether in celebration or in remembrance, such as Halabja or Newroz—stands as a powerful testament to this relationship. Their efforts have also included issuing congratulatory statements for Newroz in the Kurdish language, further strengthening the bond between the Conservative Party and Kurdish Canadians.
Additionally, a delegation of Conservative MPs has visited Kurdistan twice under the leadership of MP Tom Kmiec, a long-time friend of the Kurdish people and the founder of the Canada-Kurdistan Parliamentary Friendship Association in the Canadian Parliament, established in 2016.
For all the reasons mentioned above—and many more—it is time for every Kurdish Canadian to think carefully and cast their vote in support of the Conservative Party. Every community in Canada has the legal right to safeguard both the national interest and the interests of their own people. Now is the moment to exercise that right.
