Halloween, celebrated each year on October 31, is a time when neighborhoods across North America come alive with a spirit of creativity, fun, and togetherness. The roots of Halloween lie in the Celtic festival of Samhain, a time when ancient communities would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off wandering spirits, believing that the boundary between the living and the dead was thinnest on this night. With the spread of Christianity, this festival was adapted into All Saints’ Day and later influenced the practices of Halloween.
